I finally signed up for a gmail account so I can log back into Blogger.

I recently read this article on the 9marks website that I liked:
Contemplating Cool, by Mike McKinley

“Show me a grown man with a goatee and I’ll show you a major league baseball player. Show me a grown man with a goatee wearing sandals and I’ll show you a youth pastor.”

I did an informal comparison of an Apple to a Dell to compare features and price:

Here’s the Apple iMac ($1199):

1GB of RAM
160GB Hard Drive
128MB ATI Radeon
17” LCD

Here’s the Dell Dimension E320 ($909):

Rededication

Typically when I think of "rededication" I think of some guy crying and walking down an aisle during a song. This isn't that kind. But personally Kristin and I have had a rededication of sorts to the importance of the Bible in our lives. You might think that this would be a given for a Christian, but some interesting events in our lives this year have caused us to think hard about what we mean when we say that the Bible is "inerrant."
I have been revisiting some big questions that I hadn't delved into for a while, such as:
How do I define Biblical inerrancy? Is inerrancy critically important or not?
How important is it to go to a church that uses expository (verse-by-verse) teaching? Is topical okay?

All of these questions have been brought on by some recent events, such as reading Rob Bell's Velvet Elvis and some other issues. I will go into more detail in some posts to follow.

Rob Bell's Velvet Elvis Quotation o' the Day #2

"What's disturbing is when people talk more about hell after this life than they do about hell here and now. As a Christian, I want to do what I can to resist hell coming to earth. Poverty, injustice, suffering- they are all hells on earth and as Christians we oppose them with all our energies."
Rob Bell, Velvet Elvis

"Very different is the "program" of the modern liberal Church. In that program, heaven has little place, and this world is really all in all....the liberal preacher has very little to say about the other world. This world is really the center of all his thoughts; religion itself, and even God, are made merely a means for the betterment of conditions upon this earth."
J. Gresham Machen, Christianity & Liberalism

"It is absolutely necessary to the preaching of the gospel of Christ that men be warned as to what will happen if they continue in their sins. Ho, ho, sir surgeon, you are too delicate to tell the man that he is ill! You hope to heal the sick without their knowing it. You therefore flatter them, and what happens? They laugh at you; they dance upon their own graves. At last they die! Your delicacy is cruelty; your flatteries are poisons; you are a murderer. Shall we keep men in a fool's paradise? Shall we lull them into soft slumbers from which they will awake in Hell? Are we to become helpers of their damnation by our smooth speeches? In the name of God, we will not."
Charles Spurgeon
