Now that I have settled back into my normal work life after Kaseya Connect 2009, I am really impressed and glad with how much media content Kaseya put online from the event. One thing for next year that would be cool is to put the whole Kaseya Connect Conference up online. Some of the classes would be really helpful to those people that did not have the money or chance to go. Especially when class speakers would answer questions from the people attending. I think I learned the most from that back and forth chatter.
I would like to give special thanks to briteCITY who made this all happen by paying for me to attend the conference. The company is an MSP based in Orange County California. Kaseya has done a video profile which you can see here. The Partners are truly the greatest guys you will ever meet.
Well back to work for me.

Back home and back at work after three days in Las Vegas for the Kaseya Connect 2009 Conference. It was a well put together conference of the highest scale. Great accommodations, food, drinks, and entertainment.
About the Conference itself, Wayne Cotter was hilarious, seriously that guy was so funny. Guy Kawasaki is always good. I am really looking forward to getting my hands on the new Kaseya 6. Live Connect was the life of the show for me. There looks to be a lot of new features that will make life easier. I am happy that Kaseya is taking their product to the next level and continue to listen to their customers.
I got a lot of ideas just from talking to different people at the conference and from talking to people in the demo room, I think the demo room was really the hot ticket.
Anyways, I want to give a shout out to all the people that put on the conference.
Can’t wait for Kaseya 6!

Started off the first day of the Kaseya Connect Conference 2009, at the Four Season’s Resort, Las Vegas. Super nice room with a view of the pool which is kind of cool, because I am usually looking at a parking lot.
I went to the PPS Session: Best Practices Technical/Educational Session with Matt Warburton. He was good, knowledgeable, and answered a ton of questions from all in the crowd. It became almost a question and answer session for a little while. He basically went through all the best practices to go through if you are a new customer of Kaseya. I know it can be kind of daunting when you first get Kaseya and you have never set it up before, you feel really lost. Anyways it was a good session and Kaseya should put these talks online if they video them. I am not sure if they are?
Met some cool people, couple of Australian’s from Sydney and Chad Gniffke from Kaseya introduced me to a cool guy, Joe from MSPmentor, dumb me does not have any business cards for this conference.
Well I am back to more Kaseya action with the Welcome Reception at 7:30pm.
Watching the Cav’s - Magic Game right now - I am lovin’ me some basketball!
But all I have to say is Go Lakers!!!

So, here is a little bit of the back story. I am currently having trouble with a Cisco ASA 5505. My problem has nothing to do with the hardware itself, but it has to do with how Cisco does their licensing. Pain in the butt! We had an older Cisco PIX 506E which was running fine but now it is having problems, so I wanted to switch it out with this new device. But No! I have to wait for Cisco to send me the license files by mail, “NOT EMAIL”, regular mail, you know by the United States Postal Service. I thought this was kind of classic considering if you have ever seen a Cisco commercial it is all about how people are connected from all over the World so easily. Little did you know that all the Network Admins were waiting a good week for their licenses to arrive by mail before President Allison Taylor on 24 can talk to some Russian Government Guy on their cool video chat thing.
Aaagh!

Yesterday, I installed Windows 7 on one of the spare computers at my work. After playing around a bit with the new usability features, (which actually do make things easier) I noticed the computer did seem a little faster than the old OS, Windows Vista. One thing that is easily noticeable is the boot time. It really is quick. The problem with having this computer as a spare does not really test it in the day to day. I decided to jump into the pond and use Windows 7 as my day to day computer. I will be reporting again on the stability, usability, program glitches, etc. in the coming weeks. Stay tuned for my riviting detail on the new OS from Microsoft Windows 7.

There is NO WAY, you will ever live down partnering with a 14 year old kid impersonating a Police Officer.

You get up a little late one day and head on over to work, staggering in, you find your going to need to partner up with another officer. Already grumbling under your breath, you think to yourself this is the youngest rookie I have ever seen. You shrug it off thinking to yourself how you cannot recognize the difference between a Jr. Higher and a 20 year old anymore. You do not really care because all you are thinking about is where to get a coffee and a couple of donuts. Telling the kid officer to get in the car you head on out, now as a marked man never to be the same again.
I thought this was a funny predicament, this poor office will now become the de facto hazing object for years to come. I would be surprised to see him ever live this down.
Just a slice of life for all my readers. Enjoy!

Sooooo Tasty!
I know that all my amazing followers of “Black Socks with Running Shoes” will not be amazed that my second post is about the red beauty, I like to call, “Coca Cola Classic”. The beautiful shimmering red can that really does satisfy at 3:08pm on a Tuesday. I do want to set the records straight by saying, I was not in the market for a Coke at this time, but somehow happened by Trevor Clinard’s office with his high powered mini frig.
Here is a little Coke history off of Wikipedia, kind of interesting:
“The first Coca-Cola recipe was invented in Columbus, Georgia at a drugstore by John Pemberton, originally as a cocawine called Pemberton’s French Wine Coca in 1885. He may have been inspired by the formidable success of Vin Mariani, a European cocawine.
In 1886, when Atlanta and Fulton County passed prohibition legislation, Pemberton responded by developing Coca-Cola, essentially a non-alcoholic version of French Wine Cola. The first sales were at Jacob’s Pharmacy in Atlanta, Georgia, on May 8, 1886. It was initially sold as a patent medicine for five cents a glass at soda fountains, which were popular in the United States at the time due to the belief that carbonated water was good for the health. Pemberton claimed Coca-Cola cured many diseases, including morphine addiction, dyspepsia, neurasthenia, headache, and impotence. Pemberton ran the first advertisement for the beverage on May 29 of the same year in the Atlanta Journal.

I would definitely say I have been on the fringe of our modern day society up until now; how can a technology guy not have a blog? I feel like I am stepping out, I am basically entering a world similar to Reality TV for the journallers.
Anyways, this should be fun and we will see how long it lasts.
